Wartburg castle 02 by MisterKrababbel Wartburg castle 02 by MisterKrababbel

Wartburg castle, overlooking the town of Eisenach, Germany, for more than 900 years.

It's the town where I was born and grew up my first nine years.

Once again, we spent some nice autumn days there this week.

Oh, so busy!!!  A very different castle to those you find in the UK.  So beautiful though!

Glad you liked it May! I agree with you. These half-timbered buildings are beautiful and you find lots of them in England, too. But English castles look different.

I adore the half-timbered buildings.  One of my grandmothers lived in an old heritage-protected thatched roof cottage for a short time before I moved to Australia.  It was so adorable.  New buildings certainly don't have that charm.

During our regular school trips to London we always stop at Canterbury. So our students get a first impression of typical old English architecture. And one of my favourite places in England is still Shakespeare's Stratford-on-Avon. Simply stunning.

Sigh!  I wish I'd seen all the historical tourist attractions in England.  I've been to about half of the London museums and Harrods (lol) and that's about it.  Still - I get to see photos without the expense of the air travel on dA ;)
